Government of Animal Kingdom

Last week I was watching one of my favorite TV channel National Geographic, as always very exciting, informative and entertaining.

There was this scene where an Elephant was digging a hole for water and other animals such as Baboons, Antelopes slowly gathered around and waited. Once water found, the elephants started having their freshly dug water and after they were done, they left the place and then other animals joined the fresh party.

Although I have seen this scene many times before on same channel, probably when I was very young, may be at that time I was more fascinated by the idea of animals being creative.
But this time I was amazed how Elephants were able to find the spot and other animals, just waited patiently trusting the judgement of a few Elephants to save them from such harsh conditions.

It is a very well-known fact that Elephants have great memory and they pass their knowledge from generations to generations. They can even smell water from 5km away.

Now back to digging, Elephants being big and strong animals, they could just sit there and finish (probably) all the water or just push other animals away, and no judgement passed. But once they finished, they moved on with their journey without claiming any right on the water, naturally it does not belong to them, it belongs to mother nature.

Now the Government, when I say refer government it means any type of organization formed by humans to protect their interest and uplift life of its members.
We cannot imagine the number of governments we have around the world, but can we say that human life has been lifted? I doubt.

Still billions of people suffer from hunger, poverty, and what not. Let’s say this, can we say with confidence even 10% of world population feel truly happy or lifted?
So, who to blame?  Probably no one.  Maybe human’s greed, yes may be, but to avoid this we formed the Government isn’t it? Then what happened, may be greed got co-operated and got even bigger.

Now let’s look at the animal kingdom, are they happy or sad with or without Government. To evaluate this, we need to look at what they need, I may not be expert, but this is what I can say, they need:
  • Food
  • Family

They have evolved and adapted themselves to their surroundings, they can find their food, they make their own shelter and they can form even their family, yes there is struggle but they are independent and in the end of the day, they are able to do it. So, I say they are fulfilled and satisfied.

It becomes difficult to get above for them only when mother nature decides to do some funny stuff at a time, like flood, drought or even earthquakes, but animals without any government can overcome this and move on with their satisfying lifestyle.

Now even humans are coming in their way of perfect lifestyle and they do not even protest about it. There are thousands of protest always going on among humans against their own millions of government.

So, what to think of myself, as an Elephant or a Baboon?  I can say I am a Baboon who is waiting for Elephant (Government) to solve my problem, because I am just too lazy to dig hole for myself and the Government has dug the waterhole but now it is sitting on it and dictating who will get how much water or just saying there is no water.
