116 Days.
Food is the most satisfying thing.
Food is so elementary that when one gets suddenly rich the first thing one wants to do is to eat what he always wanted to.
In a country which has suffered centuries of poverty and food shortage it gains more significance.
Many people abandon foods to show there frustration against authority, system or anything. Its quit popular way to express aggression in peaceful manner.
Its something considered as very useful way to bring notice of mass, It has been highly successful way bring whole thing down.
Some fast for 1 day, 2 days, 3 days …. Some brave guy for 10 or more days, it always depend upon the willingness and capacity of person, well as far as my capacity is concerned I can’t stand for more than 4 hours, but when someone rise above the hunger, starvation, greed and rise for country then days doesn’t count at all, its just beginning all the time.
Beginning of “New Start” where man can live in wisdom, freedom, in environment that doesn’t cause violation of basic rights of human being.
At this time, at this age e.g. 24 years old, we bargain for petty privileges, it’s in basic behavior of human being, nothing strange.
Strange is what makes a young man to come hard against his own will, against will of family, against the odds.
Many call it “young hot shot blood”, but this is the blood which is most dark, we ever find.
It’s the patriotism that differentiates between laymen and countrymen.
Only greedy people like to show there self portrait, empty contribution to something.
Fasting is always tough task to do, but with food plate in front, milk instead of water, feeding tubes, brutal beating and other torture it gets even worst to the hell.
Giving up is only way out of the situation, but it wasn’t for Bhagat singh & other prisoners.
The British Rule tried to surreptitiously break the strike by placing different food items in the prison cells to test the hungry prisoner’s resolve. Water pitchers were filled with milk so that either the prisoners remained thirsty or broke their strike. But nobody faltered and the impasse refused to break. The authorities then attempted forcing food using feeding tubes into the prisoners, but were resisted. Kishori, a hunger striking prisoner swallowed red pepper and drank hot water to clog his feeding tube, but nothing shakes the willingness of man once decided.
“Unity is strength. People can come together to make an army and vanquish the enemy. Similarly, as straws unite to become a thatch to serve as a roof of a structure and provide safety from the rain” Guru Chanakya.
Most of us indulge in wasteful behavior pattern including me, without even thinking about their social impact.
It’s not only the number of days that matter, but purpose of those days matters most.
What was so special about these man, were they super human being, I guess they were but they weren’t much different from all of us. It’s just that they were able to see this land as country, as their country land (mother land), they chosen to make this land more powerful. That’s what we lake these days.
What we fear most, most obvious the DEATH, it takes away everything from us and us too, but when we choose our own death it doesn’t take away anything, it contributes the most. That’s exactly what happened.
“I am a Man and all that affects mankind concerns me”
Bhagat Singh
